About the Event
How “The Last Shaman” came to be isn’t discussed in the film, but this documentary might be less disquieting if it had been. After trying the hallucinogenic tea ayahuasca, Raz Degan, an Israeli-born actor, sought to make a movie about the brew’s ostensible medicinal powers.
In the process, he met different beings in life to get himself out of suicidal thoughts, depression via medication, hospital stay, or even ECT ... the last resource, he traveled to Peru for shamanic healing.
The 1.5 hours movie is about a young soul, Janes Freeman, from a well-educated- prestigious family, who decides to take matters into his own hands when faced with incurable depression as per his claims. He undergoes a life-changing journey in the Amazon jungle that brings him a deeper understanding and acceptance of SELF.
Along the way, he experiences the healing properties of the tribal plant medicine Ayahuasca and the world around him.
